Dr. Michaele Morrow Esdale, CPA, CFT founded Fintuition Advising, LLC in 2023 after a career that spanned academia, finance, and technology.

She has over 25 years of experience in accounting and taxation advisory in a variety of roles spanning public and private accounting, and training for those in pursuit of undergraduate, graduate, continuing, and executive education. Michaele spent nearly two decades in academia as a professor of accounting and taxation at Northeastern University and Suffolk University, and at Merrimack College where she managed a team of advisors and connected students across all disciplines to employers and provided the tools for career development. A staunch advocate for women, she serves as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Transition House in Cambridge, MA, is the President of the Board of Boston Women in Business for Good in Boston, MA, a giving circle that has given away over $100,000 to local MA charities in just three years. She also volunteers her time teaching and mentoring for Women’s Money Matters in Boston, MA. In 2025, she ran the Boston 10K for Women to raise money for Dignity Matters, Inc.

A Legacy of Teaching, Research, Policy, and Community Service

Concurrent to her time in academia, Dr. Esdale was a national tax instructor for PwC and KPMG, where she taught a wide variety of tax topics. For over a decade, she was the Director of a free tax preparation center in Boston for low-income taxpayers and international students. Michaele has prepared thousands of tax returns for individuals and businesses over the course of her career. Her many hours spent counseling students and tax clients led her to pursue financial therapy as part of her practice, and she is now a Certified Financial Therapist.

Dr. Esdale has over 30 publications in both academic and professional journals, and her research focuses on income tax and the effect of tax policy on taxpayer behavior. She has been frequently quoted in the media, was ranked as one of the top behavioral tax researchers in the United States, and served for several years as the editor for Issues in Accounting Education, the top-ranked accounting education journal. She is a 2019 Boston Business Journal 40 Under 40 Honoree and a member of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.

  • Michaele is an avid runner, reader, sports fan and solver of crossword puzzles. She has finished half marathons in both the U.S. and Bermuda!

  • She posts financial, tax and life advice for her Fintuition community on Instagram.

  • Michaele has a “reading problem” and reads more than 100 books each year!

  • No coffee, please - Michaele is a tea lover, especially chai.

  • She lives in Charlestown with her husband Dan and their dog Ollie. Ollie is a frequent model for the Fintuition Instagram, but his expenses are NOT a tax deduction.
